Permanent Atom

A permanent atom is a center for force containing what nay be described as a great computer program that has the accumulated knowledge and programming of the pilgrim's past. This programming is an essential ingredient in evolution as it is used to create better more refined bodies as we move forward from life to life.

There are five permanent atoms.
The Physical
The Astral
The Mental
The Buddhic
The Atmic

These are like extensions of a greater permanent atom called the Monad which is a greater extension from cosmic divine space.

I thought I should clarify a couple things about permanent atoms .

Dan asked, "Are the permanent atoms related to the energy "petals" of each centre in any way?"

As Bryan indicated in the quotes he posted the answer would be yes. As we evolve spiritually new energies unfold in our permanent atoms and our centers. The unfolding of energy corresponds and is related but with differences.

An earlier quote I gave needs some clarification. Let me quote the context:

Even so it is with our physical bodies. Life after life we seek to make a better, tougher, healthier, more resourceful body. As we do this, we carry with us all the permanent atoms (programs) of bodies past. Then we reach a point where we start putting our attention on beauty as well as function. During these lives we also have a great interest in the outward beauty of music, art, painting, architecture, creating, and such others. This interest stimulates us so that after we pass out of incarnation, and revise our program for the next body, we put more attention on increasing its beauty and symmetry.

If you have lived 600 lives, for instance, you would have a chain of 600 permanent atoms within you that interplay to create body number 601. http://www.freeread .com/archives/ 306.php

The key to understanding this statement was my point that the permanent atom is like a great computer program that carries within it all of its evolution through the series of lives that have been lived. To see them as six hundred individual atoms is not quite correct. But to see it as one atom within which is information gathered from hundreds of lifetimes s more accurate.

The physical permanent atom corresponds to the DNA. It changes from life to life but if we want a record of the body we do not need to take the whole body, but only one DNA molecule. This has the programming to recreate the body, or it can be altered to create a new body with different characteristics.

Just as the physical DNA has the programming of all the bodies of your ancestors even so does your physical permanent atom have the programming of your bodies from your past lives.

Hmmm, would have to say the Ancient of Days, for this Earth's entire cycle.

However, there is much more to it than just that.

The Molecular Order is the formation or the bringing down of a "permanent" molecule of atoms/adams synthesized into the physical form on Earth.

"The Scintillas are the "Souls," and these Souls appear in the three-fold form of Monads (units), atoms and gods — according to our teaching. "Every atom becomes a visible complex unit (a molecule), and once attracted into the sphere of terrestrial activity, the Monadic Essence, passing through the mineral, vegetable, and animal kingdoms, becomes man." (Esot. Catechism.) Again, "God, Monad, and Atom are the correspondences of Spirit, Mind, and Body (Atma, Manas and Sthula Sarira) in man." In their septenary aggregation they are the "Heavenly Man" (see Kabala for the latter term); thus, terrestrial man is the provisional reflection of the Heavenly. . . . . "The Monads (Jivas) are the Souls of the Atoms, both are the fabric in which the Chohans (Dhyanis, gods) cloth themselves when a form is needed." (Esot. Cat.)"

This relates to Cosmic and sub-planetary Monads, not to the Super-Cosmic Monas (the Pythagorean Monad) as called, in its synthetic character, by the Pantheistical Peripatetics. The Monads of the present dissertation are treated from the standpoint of their individuality, as atomic Souls, before these atoms descend into pure terrestrial form. For this descent into concrete matter marks the medial point of their own individual pilgrimage. Here, losing in the mineral kingdom their individuality, they begin to ascend through the seven states of terrestrial evolution to that point where a correspondence is firmly established between the human and Deva (divine) consciousness. At present, however, we are not concerned with their terrestrial metamorphoses and tribulations, but with their life and behaviour in Space, on planes wherein the eye of the most intuitional chemist and physicist cannot reach them — unless, indeed, he develops in himself highly clairvoyant faculties.

"It is well known that Leibnitz came several times very near the truth, but defined monadic evolution incorrectly, which is not to be wondered at, since he was not an Initiate, nor even a Mystic,..... "

http://www.theosoci ety.org/pasadena /sd/sd1-3- 15.htm

Through the molecular structure the Monadic Essences(souls) will pass through the mineral, vegetable, animal AND human, creating HU-man or God-man Divine consciousness. (Hence these atoms will do even greater things than Jesus and his Disciples.)

In the AAB/DK chart, The Constitution of Man, it shows that on the Mental Plane there is a Manasic Permanent Atom, so this would store all the Mind consciousness, I presume? Then for the Emotional body or astral level there is an Astral Permanent Atom, which probably stores all the emotional consciousness of the human unit and then there is a physical permanent Atom which resides at the Atomic level, not in the physical level, hence this is where the physical body consciousness is stored for future use, i.e. this is how the Masters can unfold their physical bodies, or tap into anything from their past lives in their consciousness of the astral and mental realms.

So an Atom can be a "permanent body" at various conscious levels wherein the Soul can work through and have a continual connection with its lower realms.

Quote:

"Atom atomos (Greek) Indivisible, individual, a unit; among the Greek Atomists what in theosophy is called a monad. Atomic theories of the constitution of the universe or of matter are many and ancient. In modern physics the atom is a small particle once thought indivisible, but now resolved into component units. In some philosophies, as that of Leibniz, the atoms (which he calls monads) are psychological rather than physical units -- unitary beings of diverse kinds and grades, composing the universe.

In theosophy, atoms have to be considered in relation to monads; in The Secret Doctrine gods, monads, and atoms are a triad like spirit, soul, and body. A monad is a divine-spiritual life-atom, a living being, evolving on its own plane, and a life-atom is the vehicle of the monad which ensouls it, and in turn ensouls a physical atom. The ultimates of nature are atoms on the material side, monads on the energic side; monads are indivisible, atoms divisible (a departure from the etymological meaning). Thus there is a quaternary of gods, monads, life-atoms, and physical atoms.

"An atom may be compared to (and is for the Occultist) the seventh principle of a body or rather of a molecule. The physical or chemical molecule is composed of an infinity of finer molecules and these in their turn of innumerable and still finer molecules. Take for instance a molecule of iron and so resolve it that it becomes non-molecular; it is then, at once transformed into one of its seven principles, viz., its astral body; the seventh of these is the atom. The analogy between a molecule of iron, before it is broken up, and this same molecule after resolution, is the same as that between a physical body before and after death. The principle remains minus the body. Of course this is occult alchemy, not modern chemistry" (TBL 84)."

http://www.theosoci ety.org/pasadena /etgloss/ ato-az.htm

For some reason, I wanted to incorporate the Akasa into this equation:

"The Akasa is the eternal divine consciousness which cannot differentiate, have qualities, or act; action belongs to that which is reflected or mirrored from it. The unconditioned and infinite can have no relation with the finite and conditioned. . . . We may compare the Akasa and the Astral Light . . . to the germ in the acorn. The latter, besides containing in itself the astral form of the future oak, conceals the germ from which grows a tree containing millions of forms. These forms are contained in the acorn potentially, yet the development of each particular acorn depends upon extraneous circumstances, physical forces, etc." (TBL 75-6; also IU 1:197).

The astral light is the tablet of memory of earth and of its child the animal-man; while akasa is the tablet of memory of the hierarchy of the planetary spirits controlling our chain of globes, and likewise of their child, each spiritual ego."

http://www.theosoci ety.org/pasadena /etgloss/ ah-al.htm

Perhaps the Permanent Atoms are also like "the germ in the acorn, the latter, besides containing in itself the astral form of the future oak, conceals the germ from which grows a tree containing millions of forms". Think....Tree of Life....permanent Atoms/Acorns/ Seeds/Lotuses.

"Each time you die you take with you a permanent atom composed of etheric matter which retains a full memory, or computer program, of your physical body in that life. Within your make up is a full memory and data of all that you have ever been over your long history of incarnations. " JJ

http://www.freeread .com/archives/ 925.php

Because the physical body is not built upon a true principle, it is anchored to Earth through the physical permanent atom at the Atomic level, so this must be like a permanent data chip which retains all the conscious information over each lifetime, so when you are "sealed" to another person or group of people through the Love principle, this is retained in that permanent atom in either the entire cycle of the Universe etc, or until that seal is broken by God.

Ruth continues:

and......... ...Permanent Atom

Summary:

5. "The permanent atoms are not heart-shaped as portrayed in certain books. A certain number of atoms are of that type but they are not the permanent atoms which are more definitely spheroidal and are slightly flattened at the top, where the correspondence to the polar depression may be found, and equally flattened at the under surface.

6. The arrangement of the spirillae within the permanent atoms varies on each plane and the ones most frequently described are those of the physical plane. The arrangement of these tiny force vortices and their internal economy on each plane is one of the secrets of initiation and may not be revealed. One hint only may be given to guide the student: The astral permanent atom has its internal streams of force arranged so that the spirals do approach quite closely the conformation of a heart, though the pointed end is eliminated. The buddhic permanent atom has its spirillae arranged so as to form approximately a figure eight with a central stream bisecting the double spiral.

7. The closer the approach to reality the simpler will be found the arrangement of the spirillae. These streams of force show a septenary arrangement in the [532] lower three permanent atoms of man, while the higher three contain but three spirillae - the major three.

8. It should be noted that there are but six permanent atoms connected with human evolution, while a Heavenly Man has but five, and even then only one in the solar system. (The mystery of a planet and its central life has not yet been revealed. It is connected with another manifestation of which as yet naught is known.)

11. The permanent atoms of men are upon the atomic subplane of each plane, with the one exception of the mental unit. Those of the animal groups are upon the second subplane; those of the vegetable groups are upon the third subplane; those of the mineral groups are upon the fourth subplane. There is, therefore, a close analogy between these focal points of force of the group - human or otherwise - and a chain, a globe, and a round, and in their due application comes enlightenment. The sumtotal of the permanent atoms of any particular kingdom form the streams of force or spirillae in the greater atoms of solar entities or of lunar entities, while the sumtotal of the permanent atoms of man in the spiritual kingdom (the three triadal atoms, atma-buddhi- manas) form the spiral streams of force within certain centers.

12. As the permanent atoms become radioactive in due course of evolution, the result within the center is a marked increase of vibration.

13. The permanent atoms concern solar entities when they are found on or above the higher mental. They [533] concern lunar entities on the lower mental, the astral and the physical planes."

A Treatise on Cosmic Fire - Section Two - Division C - The Egoic Ray and Solar Fire

So I assume that these permanent atoms are only as permanent as needed in the cycles of The One, and are also consumed by Fire, when a new cycle begins after the Great Sleep.

Ruth adds:

The Permanent Atom is the All or the One Originating Intelligence which sent out a Cause to become and everything reflected from IT is an image of IT.

If one looks at the Atom, it is the dot within the circle and is always the dot within the circle. See the pics here to better understand this vision:
http://en.wikipedia .org/wiki/ Atom

The human is an atom/adam and will form molecules, but with a "twist", the twist representative of the upward Spiral formation of the Originating Intelligence/ Dot/Atom.

The Universe also portrays symbols of the One/Dot. Saturn....Dot within the Circle. There are even symbols in the Universe depicting the dot within the circle and then the figure 8 (infinity) there as well.

Bryan writes:
"Permanent atom: Those five atoms, with the mental unit, one on each of the five planes of human evolution (the mental unit being also on the mental plane) which the monad appropriates for purposes of manifestation. They form a stable center and are relatively permanent. Around them the various sheaths or bodies are built. They are literally small force centers."

(Initiation, Human and Solar," by AAB)

"The permanent atoms are concerned with the substance aspect of Existence or Becoming."

(TOCF Page 545)

                        • * *

The following is what I extracted from my study of the teachings of Djwhal Khul through the writings of Alice A. Baily on the topic of the "Permanent Atom":

I did my best to put what I learned in my own words, and still it is mostly in the words of AAB/DK.

These permanent atoms are RELATIVELY permanent.

The causal body is a collection of permanent atoms, three in all, enclosed in an envelop of mental essence.

While the permanent atom is not a principle, it, like many other (physical) organs are tangible outcomes (of shadows) of the activities of very real principles. They embody principles.

Although the "three physical bodies" are constructed based upon the information contained in the permanent atoms -- as we become aware of the "higher principles," make various changes in consciousness, this in turns directly affects our physical body -- and we literally can construct "a new body" around the present permanent atoms. Additionally, these changes are registered in the permanent atom, and are carried forward into future incarnations.

The permanent atoms are repositories or the storing houses of the experiences undergone during life in the three worlds. They also house both lunar and solar records.

Permanent atoms are the energizing centers of Activity.

There are specific groups of devas connected to or related to the permanent atoms which must be contacted and worked with in order to activate and develop the permanent atoms.

It is the "starting point" for all life animated in the physical form.

During Initiations, associated energy and force is transferred via the existing Anatahkarna or those in the process of being built.

The permanent atoms are enclosed within the periphery of the causal body.

The are one of three three main centers of energy through which the Monad manifests.

In man, three permanent atoms are the centers of force for the three bodies -- the mental, astral and physical.

Each permanent atom has specific characteristics and purposes.

Certain of the planets are to the Logos what the permanent atoms are to man.

Permanent atoms house the spirillae and/or spirilla or "life current."

When we speak of the process of "perfection" it appears that what is really being spoken/taught it is the "perfection" of these three permanent atoms.

Permanent atoms are the "points of fire" -- and focal points of energy.

They are the focal point at or towards which various "vibratory mantrams" are directed at in order to activate the permanent atom..

They are the point around which "matter and/or substance" is gathered.

They form a/the "atomic triangle." through which our Solar Angel works with us.

Different kinds, types of permanent atoms respond differently to different forces; i.e., the permanent atoms in/of the Animal Kingdom respond to different forces than do the permanent atoms of the Human Kingdom; hence, producing differing results.

The dense physical plane itself is energized by means of the logoic permanent atom.

It is the physical permanent atom that becomes becomes radioactive or a radiant point of fire.

It appears that following our "withdrawal" from this physical plane that contact with the three lower planes is still inherently possible by means of the permanent atoms.

The physical permanent atom absorbs the entire life force of the physical body.

While these "networks" already exist in/as spiritual matter -- As we work to create these "bridges and networks" between the permanent atoms -- and the universe construct these various "connections" between the what it appears (through which the various "electricities flow") permanent atoms is very much like us building creating the electric network through which the "physical manifestation" of God -- essentially we work on ourselves were are assisting in the creation of the physical body of "god."

The goal is before the end of this current "round," is the awakening to full activity of the fifth spirilla of the human physical permanent atom.

Bryan offers additional DK quotes:

My present level of understanding is permanent atoms are just one of the many parts of the necessary machinery which are used/needed, assembled and activated to move all (form & formless?) evolution forward.

And you and others might be able to discover what you can for yourself -- and even put it in your own words better than I ever could -- if you read the following quotes "as a whole" that talk (hint?) about this relationship.

Hope it helps.

"The permanent atoms are concerned with the substance aspect of Existence or Becoming, while the petals of the lotus, or the fiery spokes of the wheel, deal specifically with the psychical aspect, or the development of consciousness; the central nucleus, or the three inner petals, embodies the aspect of pure Spirit.

[...]

"It is, as stated elsewhere, through the permanent atoms that the Ego comes en rapport with his objective world; he works upon and through his environment successfully or blindly just in so far as he can energize his permanent atoms, and bring the spirillae out of latency into potency. This only becomes possible as he unfolds the petals of the lotus. It must be remembered that the three lower petals when fully unfolded affect, through their vitality, the three major spirillae in the physical permanent atom. As the second ring of petals gradually opens, the astral permanent atom undergoes a similar process, leading up to the full arousing of the spirillae within the mental unit."

TOCF, Pages 545 & 546

"At the base of the lotus petals are the three points of light which mark the position of the permanent atoms, and which are the medium of communication between the solar Angels and the lunar Pitris. By means of these permanent atoms the Ego, according to its state of evolution can construct his lunar bodies, acquire knowledge on the lower three planes, and thus buy his experience, and becomes aware."

TOCF, Page 762

Its activities are primarily internal and self-centered for the greater part of the time, or are directed towards arousing the permanent atoms, and not towards the unfolding of the petals.

TOCF, Page 774

"The work of the solar Angels is of a triple nature:

"(1.) Directing the vibration towards the atomic triangle. Here a very interesting fact must be borne in mind. The three permanent atoms, or the three points of the triangle, do not always hold the same relative position as regards the center of the lotus, but according to the stage of development so will be the position of the atoms, and so will be the apprehension of the inflowing force. In the earlier stages, the physical permanent atom is the first to receive the inflow, passing it through its system to the astral permanent atom and the mental unit. This force is circulated four times around the triangle (this being the fourth round) until the mental unit is again contacted and the energy becomes centralized in the fourth spirilla of the mental unit. Then and only then do the lunar Pitris begin their work, and commence the coordination of the substance which will form the mental sheath, next working with the astral body and finally with the etheric body."

TOCF, Page 775

"The fifth spirilla in the lower two atoms increases its vibration. As we know, there are only four spirillae in the mental unit and the moment that that is in full activity, the coordination of the antahkarana becomes a possibility. Changes are now taking place in the egoic lotus, and the petals are unfolding, that unfoldment being partially dependent upon the vibration in the spirillae and their awakening."

TOCF, Page 776

"The student should bear in mind the fact that as soon as the mental unit has become the apex of the atomic triangle a condition is brought about wherein force in the future will enter the three atoms simultaneously through the three unfolded petals of the outer circle, and the man has therefore reached a very definite stage in evolution. The direction of force, and its application to the atoms is the work of the solar Pitris. As evolution proceeds, their work in this connection becomes more complex, for the petals are unfolding, and the triangle is revolving more rapidly."

TOCF, Page 777

"In connection with the human family it covers the first half of the next round, prior to the great separation. Electric fire is beginning to make its radiations felt, and the will or purpose of the Ego is now consciously realized upon the physical plane. The three permanent atoms form a triangle of light, and the petals of the lotus are rapidly unfolding."

TOCF, Page 807

"To find out what lines of thought are being indulged in which are causing that inertia of the will aspect which is so conducive to wrongdoing; to ascertain what it is in the emotional body which is affecting the nervous system, and thus obstructing the flow of energy from the love petals of the egoic lotus (via the astral permanent atom) to the astral body, and from thence to the nervous system; to discover what is the hindrance in the etheric body which is preventing the right flow of prana, or of solar vitality to every part of the body"

TOCF, Page 812

"These are the petals which represent the lowest aspect of the Triad and are responsive to the lowest forms of egoic force. These petals are three in number and come under the influence of certain streams of activity.

"a. One stream of energy emanates from the lower triad of permanent atoms, particularly the physical permanent atom, via that one of the three petals called 'the knowledge petal. The stream of force engendered in the lower self circulates in a triple stream (the reflection in the lower self of the threefold Path to God) around the atomic triangle at the base of the egoic lotus."

TOCF, Page 1111

"Before the final liberation but after the major part of the purificatory and aligning processes are complete, the vehicles of the initiate present a wonderful appearance, due to the streams of energy from the egoic body which can reach him. The egoic lotus is unfolded, and the central "fire" displayed. Each petal and each circle of petals is pulsating with life and color, and is in active movement, revolving with great rapidity and with the stream of living energy circulating in every part of the lotus. The three permanent atoms glow and blaze and form, through their rapid revolution and interplay, what appears to be a blazing point of fire, so that it has been called at times "the reflection of the Jewel in the Mother's forehead."

TOCF, Page 1122

"Though we are told that the permanent atomic triad is enclosed in the causal periphery, nevertheless, from the standpoint of consciousness there is that which must be bridged. Again, between the alta major center and the supreme head center, exists another gulf - a correspondence to the gulf found between the plane of the Ego and the lowest point of the Triad, the manasic permanent atom. When man has constructed the antahkarana (which he does during the final stages of his evolution in the three worlds) that gulf is bridged and the Monad and the Ego are closely linked. When man is polarized in his mental body, he begins to bridge the antahkarana. When the center between the shoulder blades, referred to earlier in this Treatise as the manasic center, is vibrating forcefully, then the alta major center and the head center, via the throat center can be united."

TOCF, Page 1160
